The city branch of Indian Red Cross Society opened first branded & generic medicines shop of the state, ‘Arogya’, . The shop got tremendous response from the public.

The shop, situated in front of the Red Cross Hopital.

Addressing the gathering at the inaugural function, Collector said that the aim of opening the outlet was to provide economical and quality medicines to the public.

As many as 25 such shops would be opened in the district, out of which 20 will be in the different parts of the city and 5 will be in the 5 blocks of the district Depalpur, Sanwer, Mhow, Betma and Rau, he said. A home delivery van was also flagged off on this occasion.

20 more shops in Indore

The district administration had identified the localities for starting 20 more shops in Indore city.

The areas include Annapurna Road, Ranjit Hanuman Road, Banganga, Kalani Nagar, Gangwal Bus stand, Vijay Nagar, Scheme 54, Sukhaliya, Khajarana, Bangali square, MIG square, Geeta Bhawan square, Sapna Sangeeta Road, Bhanwarkua, Malwa Mill square.

Surgical items to be sold with drugs

The shop operated by Oxygen Life Care was initially designed to sell generic drugs. But, the authorities decided to stock branded drugs also, so as to extend the benefit to the patients, said company MD K P Singh. he said surgical items are also made available at the shop.

Discount galore for patients

The shop aims to give a discount of 75% on generic drugs to the patients, Singh said. Discounts of 20% and 60% will be offered on branded drugs and surgical items, he added. Initially over 15000 medicines are stocked at the shop and in the coming days, this range would be expanded to 1 lakh medicines after opening all the 20 shops in the city.
